My parents encourage me to write. In addition to my love for English poetry, they also instilled in me – a great appreciation for Sinhala lyrics and music.
From time to time, I write in the beautiful Sinhala language of Sri Lanka. The first two kavi here are about my teacher mother Shirani Welgampola. I’ve also written a hymn Mawaka Mihira, sung by my composer father Stanley Welgampola.
